Barbuda Resilience Fund

On September 5, 2017 Barbuda and its people experienced total devastation in the wake of Hurricane Irma with 185mph winds, 15ft waves, and widespread flooding. Over two-thirds of houses and buildings were destroyed in the storm. Restoration activities is likely take years as the population returns to the island.

Directly following the devastation of Hurricane Irma, the Waitt Foundation in collaboration with ICF established a trust to support the immediate restoration of the island and the community as they are returning to the island. ICF waived all administrative fees to ensure that funds went directly to support hurricane relief. Starting in 2018, the Waitt Foundation covered ICF’s administrative fees related to the Trust. Beginning today, ICF will begin charge its standard 7% grantmaking fee to ensure that we can provide sufficient programmatic and financial oversight on all grants in Barbuda.

The “Barbuda Resilience Fund” (BRF) is a mid-to long-term fund to rebuild the island of Barbuda after Hurricane Irma. All donations will support Barbuda and its people, including island restoration and community rebuilding. Please donate now to support the people of Barbuda.
